Split is the largest city on Adriatic coast in Croatia. Recently, Split has celebrated 1,700 years since it was founded. As such an old city, Split has a lot to offer to it’s visitors from both cultural to nightlife perspective which makes it suitable for all types of travelers.

The most notable landmark in Split is without a doubt Diocletian’s Palace which was built in 305 AD. When you visit Split, there is no way you can miss Diocletian Palace so I will not go into explaining how to find it. One walk on popular Riva and you will have Diocletian’s Palace shadowing over you along the way.

Even though Split has a lot to offer to it’s visitors, for so long Split has been nothing more than a transfer city where the average guest stay was not more than 2 days. Travelers usually came to Split just because Split is the place from where they can transfer to their final destination. They were usually transporting to nearby islands such as island of Brac, Hvar, Solta or Vis.

Recently the city of Split has began investing into landscaping of outdoor areas and beaches in hope to keep the tourists for longer periods of time. So far the improvements made are showing good sign to shifting this trend slowly making Split a popular tourist destination.
