A new project for preserving the quality and the cleanliness of the Adriatic sea in Makarska has just been finished to the happiness of every Croatian citizen. With this new equipment worth over 5 million Kunas, all waste water being dumped into the sea now is being purified before being poured into the sea.
The city of Makarskais located in a naturally protected port, enclosed from the southern side by the cape Osejava, and from the north-west by a small peninsula called St. Peter. The city is arranged in the shape of the amphitheater, under the slopes of the mountain Biokovo (1762m), which protects the city from penetration of cold continental air.
The whole area of Makarska Riviera is abundant in Mediterranean vegetation, characterized by mild winters, and long, hot summers refreshed by cool mountain breeze. Sun shines more than 2750 hours per year and the air temperature during the months of June to September is constantly above 20°C.
