Airport Split is the busiest airport at the Croatian Adriatic coast. During one year more than a million people arrive at the Split airport. The majority of those arrivals happen during the summer. Split airport is the first airport in Croatia that started doing business with low budget airline companies. From the total number of airline passengers arriving at Split airport one fifth of them came through low budget airline companies.

During the 2008 season, Split airport has recorded a record number of passenger arrivals and departures. The number of international passengers was 1,027,606.00 which is 85,37% of total number of passengers.
The total number of both international and domestic passengers in 2008 was 1,203,778.00 which was 2% more than in 2007.
The peak months in the number of arrivals and departures from Split airport was May, July and August and one million th passenger arrived at Split airport in September 10 days earlier than it did in 2007.
